Ronald Ian Evidente, Spokesperson | Kilusang Mayo Uno Negros | Mobile Number: 0919.2666.183 | Bacolod City – The militant and anti-imperialist Kilusang Mayo Uno Negros (KMU Negros) rated Pres. Benigno S. Aquino, III negative one (-1) today on his 100 days in office. According to KMU Negros, Pres. Aquino had not pushed significant reforms especially on the issue of prosecution of former President Arroyo, worsening human rights violations and in giving economic relief to the poor especially to the workers and peasants.

“Aquino become a lame duck on his 100 days, expect that he will only impress the Filipino people of his anti- corruption campaign rhetorics.  His actual work performance shows that he is not willing to push policy reforms like genuine agrarian reform, justice to victims of extra judicial killing and Arroyo’s prosecution,” said Ronald Ian Evidente KMU Negros spokesperson.

The militant labor center said the people must look at the policies of Aquino in his 100 days in office like the slashing of budget for education and public health, increasing foreign debt payment and AFP budget and government dole out support, imposing more taxes and the begging for alms and crumbs from imperialist boss like the $434 M Millennium Challenge Account in exchange for more economic and political concession from the Obama administration.

“Aquino is the false hope president for the Filipino people. He will not bring significant changes to the problem of hunger and joblessness that the Filipino people carried for a long time. We need genuine land reform and national industrialization to have a stronger economic foundation but this program contradicts to his imperialist master policies,” Evidente added.

Kilusang Mayo Uno Labor center explained that how can a landlord president solve hunger and poverty of millions of peasants in the country if he wants to continue monopolizing Hacienda Luisita landholdings?

“Pres. Aquino will fail to give significant reforms, he will always stand on his class standpoint as a landlord just like the former Pres. Cory Aquino who failed to distribute land as she promises to the Filipino people,” Evidente concluded. ###
