Bayan meets Noynoy's Davao visit with protest

Davao City – Making his first ever visit to Davao City after winning the presidential post last election, Noynoy is greeted with a protest rally by various people's organizations under Bagong Alyansang Makabayan.

“The honeymoon stage is over and we want to inform Noynoy that we abhor his policies that neglect and violate human rights. His days spent so far as president should have initiated the prosecution of Gloria Arroyo, the distribution of lands among the farmers of Hacienda Luisita, and the abolition of Oplan Bantay Laya,” Bayan-SMR spokesperson John Birondo said.

“We are dismayed that he stands inutile when he knew for himself the power he holds to realize such urgent and legitimate demands of the people. These are known concerns to him since day one of his presidency, yet, he is doing nothing,” Birondo added.

“We are not impressed with his administration's series of expositions on corruption as we want the culprits to suffer in jail. Gloria Arroyo's prosecution is long impending and we fear that this inaction of the Aquino administration is making a leeway for her vindication,” Birondo lamented.

Bayan also hit Noynoy's nuetral stand on the plight of the Hacienda Luisita farmers.

“As the president, he should be fighting for the lands that are due to the farmers of Hacienda Luisita. He has all the authority to compel his own family to do the distribution as this is the right thing to do. No more, no less,” Birondo exclaimed.

“It seems very easy for Noynoy to forget the Hacienda Luisita farmers who died in defense of their lands. A manifestation indeed, Noynoy is a fascist president in the making,” Birondo said.

“Like all the past presidents of this country whose strength depended on military might, Noynoy is bound to repeat history as this is his only way to contain people's dissent.” Birondo added.

“His bold support for militarization and other policies of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on insurgency says it all. A precedent of more political killings and harrassments, the few ones which happened in Noynoy's first few days in Malacanang are continued implementation under Oplan Bantay Laya,” Birondo stressed.
